Under direct contract with the Los Angeles & San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council (LASGRWC), WELDesign is working on a very exciting urban stormwater (flooding and quality), water conservation pilot project (since March 2007).
The LASGRWC's partners are TreePeople and the City of Los Angeles Public Works Department. WELDesign's contract as Senior Technical Design Consultant has brought the company to work closely with GeoMatrix and Dudek, who are spear heading the engineering and landscape architecture aspects of the pilot project.
Already having received partial funding from the US Bureau of Reclamation, the project will retrofit the public right of way and portions of homeowners' landscapes with stormwater reducing, water quality improving and water conservation elements (including native plants, rainwater harvesting, swale gardens and permeable paving). Construction is scheduled to begin later 2008.
