Course Description:

Explore the myriad of techniques to harvest rainwater for your landscape (and beyond), including passive and active systems. In this course, we will pictorially look at systems ranging from simple earth works to direct earth-contacted rainwater (stormwater), to subsurface infiltration galleries and retention systems. We will extensively look at more elaborate and intensive detention systems, both above and below ground. We will explore gravity vs. pump-assisted landscape systems and consider suitability for domestic usage. Course will also include source, sizing, filtering, storing and using.

Biography:

Daniel Wilson is the President and founder of Wilson Environmental Contracting Inc., a fully licensed, bonded and insured California corporation. He has 21 years academic and professional experience working with natural landscapes and their associated plants and animals, throughout California. The company is the winner of numerous awards on a local, regional and statewide level. Wilson Environmental Landscape Design (& Build), a Triple A+ (AAA) Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), is based out of the City of Santa Barbara, with recent and current projects throughout Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.

Speaking and presenting at various events throughout California, Daniel has presented at the Western Landscape National Expo in Pomona the last three years. Additionally, Daniel has been one of the Metropolitan Water District's (MWD) Educational Consultants to represent the District by teaching homeowners and professionals throughout Southern California about landscape improvements with water conservation (2008-2010).
